80% of what a child learns before age 12 is through eyesight. For many children, difficulty in school due to vision impairment is the norm. Many will never bring attention to their vision because they may not know any different or may be embarrassed. Everyday activities including reading, classroom lessons, navigating their environment and social interactions are more difficult than they need to be. Often times the solution is an eye exam and a pair of glasses! This can eliminate unnecessary challenges, open doors to education and promote long-term health.

There are countless communities where access to eye care is limited or non-existent. Bright Eyes Bright Future can bring these services to those in need. Donated funds are used to provide the necessary supplies and equipment to bring eye care to remote areas.
In 2018, 4 inaugural clinics were held in Peru. Exams were carried out in village homes and schools. With dirt floors and light streaming in from unfinished construction, challenges were present. Part of the fulfillment of traveling to these areas is discovering ways to create a setting where the necessary services can be given. Our volunteers were up to the task and created make-shift exam rooms. Hundreds of children were seen, glasses distributed and lives changed! We continue to work at building partnerships in areas where we can be of service. Since those first clinics in 2018, many more clinics have been held in multiple cities around the world. We continue to see lives changed as exams are administered and glasses provided. We look forward to what lies ahead as we look for new locations and are even starting to re-visit some of the same locations for follow-up clinics. Thank you for your support. |
